Three questions to Liza Steudle, Head of ESG
 

1. How is the company's strategy aligned with ESG factors?

Our strategy is built around decarbonised energy solutions and aligns ESG directly with value creation. Sustainability considerations are embedded across the full value chain, from project development to asset operation and financing decisions, with a clear focus on reducing carbon intensity, increasing renewable energy share, and enabling customer decarbonisation. Strategic targets, including CO₂ reduction pathways and EU Taxonomy alignment, are approved at Group level and operationalised through defined KPIs.

2. How is GETEC actively mitigating climate-related risks?

GETEC is progressively strengthening the integration of climate-related risks into its enterprise risk management, covering both transition and physical risks. We systematically assess both transition risks, such as regulatory change or carbon pricing, and physical risks, including extreme weather impacts on assets. We are embedding these considerations more consistently into decisions, technology choices and project development. At the same time, we are advancing asset-level risk assessment by improving data availability, digital monitoring and transparency across the portfolio. This is an ongoing process that is constantly being refined.

3. What emerging ESG trends or challenges could impact the energy industry in the next 3-5 years?

ESG in the energy sector is moving from disclosure to measurable impact. Regulation under CSRD and EU Taxonomy will demand consistent, externally verifiable data and elevate sustainability to the same level of rigour as financial reporting.

At the same time, expectations from customers and investors are shifting decisively towards tangible outcomes: real decarbonisation, transparent value chains, and credible Scope 3 management rather than headline targets.

For an asset-heavy business like GETEC, the defining challenge will be managing transition risk at speed. Technology choices, fuel strategies and capital allocation must anticipate regulatory change and avoid lock‑in. This is where digitalisation, real-time data and flexibility in energy systems become critical enablers of resilience and growth.

Recognition for ongoing sustainability leadership

GETEC is committed to internationally recognised standards. We regularly participate in independent sustainability assessments, such as EcoVadis and the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), where GETEC achieved a 4‑star rating in 2024, placing us among the leading group in the assessment. 

We are also a signatory to the UN Global Compact, with annual communication on our progress. Since 2020, we have voluntarily published reports on our sustainability activities, as we continue to contribute to the transformation of Europe’s energy infrastructure, driving the energy transition to a digital and decarbonised world.
