Medical Centre Wahrendorff
The head office of the medical centres is located approx. 20 km east of the state capital Hanover in Sehnde, along with the two locations Ilten and Köthenwald. The medical centres provide outpatient, semi-inpatient and inpatient care in emergency psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy. The entire medical centre has 310 hospital beds and 253 spaces for semi-inpatient care. Personalised and high-quality professional care is delivered to more than 1,060 residents in the different areas of the care home.
The customised GETEC energy solution
The challenge
Supply of the medical centre with heat for space heating, ventilation, hot water as well as electricity, if necessary, produced with state-of-the art, efficient energy generation systems.
The goal
Development of a sustainable heat and energy supply concept for all areas of the medical centre
Our solution
The various buildings are supplied by means of a total of 32 natural gas-based and/or HEL-based heat generation systems.
GETEC set up among other things two CHP units with an electrical output of 140 kW each in the Juliane Wahrendorff medical centre in Ilten as well as in the care home in Köthenwald.
The heat generated in the CHP units is used to supply the base load (heat); the generated electricity is fed into the medium voltage systems of the medical centres Ilten and Köthenwald. The refurbishment and expansion of the local heating network at the same time created combined heat supply systems, which make it possible to switch off heat generation units, thereby optimising the operational life of the CHP units. In the context of their refurbishment in 2015/2016, all heat generation systems were switched to energy-efficient condensing boiler technology.

The customised GETEC energy solution
The challenge
Nearly 90,000 MWh of heat per year are needed for the properties in Turek with a population of 28,000 residents.
The goal
Above all, the new energy supply was supposed to be particularly economical, to realise low and stable energy costs for the community in the long term.
Our solution
GETEC presented a tailor-made concept and guarantees the town of Turek an economical, affordable and secure heat supply for a total of 30 years. The plan is to build a new plant on the property that was specifically purchased for this purpose. Starting in 2018, the heating station replaced the Adamów power station as heat supplier to the town of Turek.

a-ja Resort Grömitz
a-ja, a subsidiary of DSR Hotel Holding, is a new, up-and-coming, rapidly expanding holiday hotel brand. Its aspiration: Best holidays at the best price – hotel and spa for everyone. The a-ja concept represents a democratisation of luxury in the holiday hotel industry, featuring the components adventure gastronomy, generous spa offerings and the ambience of a suite.
The customised GETEC energy solution
The challenge
Set-up of a new CHP unit on the main floor of the a-ja resort Grömitz and hydraulic connection with the district heating network by way of a hybrid station. The strict requirements regarding the permissible noise emission of the Baltic Sea spa town of Grömitz as well as the hotel proper represented a particular challenge, which was considered early on in the planning of the unit.
The goal
In the context of the further expansion of the a-ja brand, a new a-ja resort was completed in Grömitz in 2015, which was connected to the district heating network. An invitation to tender for the construction of an appropriate CHP unit was additionally launched, among other things, for the purpose of generating electricity in-house.
Our solution
GETEC built a CHP unit with a capacity of 140 kWel using natural gas as fuel base in the building of the a-ja resort of Grömitz.
All of the thermal energy is fed into the upstream district heating network.

Energie für Schleswig-Holstein
The company Energie für Schleswig-Holstein GmbH was founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Wankendorfer Baugenossenschaft für Schleswig-Holstein eG and GETEC WÄRME & EFFIZIENZ GmbH and is based in Magdeburg. Since then, ESH has already provided comprehensive energy-related services and upgrades where necessary for 450 heat generation plants. More than 8,000 apartments are supplied with heat in a sustainable and cutting-edge fashion.
The customised GETEC energy solution
Efficient design of heat generators, heat grids with the utilisation of various energy sources.
The challenge
These days, many things need to be considered when supplying a property with heat. They range from the space required for the generation or interconnecting systems, to the operating safety and fitness for the future to sustainability and obviously the supply costs.
The goal
A key aspect is the upgrade and maintenance of heat generation plants with the goal of the energy-efficient generation and distribution of thermal energy against the backdrop of climate protection and security of supply. In so doing, ESH examines the technical feasibility of an efficient design of heat generators, heat grids and utilisation of energy sources, depending on the regional circumstances.
Our solution
The use of combined heat and power generation by means of decentralised CHP units plays an important role in this context. The application of this technology is rewarded with a favourable primary energy factor. This means: The construction costs for buildings heated by means of this method decrease because fewer structural measures are required to erect an appropriately energy-efficient building. For instance, fewer insulating materials are needed or other improvement measures can be omitted, such as the use of solar power.
