GETEC is expanding its range of services for the decarbonisation of industrial companies in Italy and on the Iberian Peninsula
- Acquisition of Cogenio completed following regulatory approval
- Combined expertise strengthens the position of GETEC in Italy and establishes a GETEC presence in the Iberian Peninsula
- Growing demand for industrial decarbonisation creates new opportunities across Southern Europe
Magdeburg/Milan/Madrid, Germany/Italy/Spain, 6 October 2026 – Following the signature of the acquisition agreement in July and receipt of Italian antitrust clearance in August, GETEC has completed the acquisition of Cogenio.
With the transaction, GETEC is strengthening its position in Italy and establishing a presence in the Iberian Peninsula to serve existing and future customers with an extended focus on their specific needs in infrastructure and energy solutions.
The combination builds on the established industrial business of GETEC in Italy and brings together the complementary local market knowledge, customer relationships, engineering expertise and technological capabilities of both companies, backed by the financial strength of GETEC. The expanded company is well positioned to further accelerate growth in the industrial market and support companies and municipalities across Southern Europe in improving efficiency, strengthening resilience and navigating the complexities of the modern energy landscape.
"The completion of the acquisition marks an important milestone in the continued growth of GETEC across Europe. The energy transition in industry, real estate and the public sector remains a powerful growth driver across all our markets, and we are committed to becoming a European leader in energy and infrastructure solutions. Cogenio will add new capabilities to GETEC and further strengthen our position in Europe," says Pierre-Alain Graf, CEO of GETEC.
From chemicals and life sciences, data centres, food and dairy, paper, healthcare and automotive, energy-intensive industries are working to reduce emissions in their operations without compromising competitiveness.
In Italy, Cogenio manages more than 30 energy assets across industrial sites throughout Italy, spanning a broad range of technologies, from photovoltaic plants and cogeneration to heat recovery systems and advanced integrated energy plants, complementing the existing industrial activities of GETEC and creating an even stronger company for further growth in the market. As organisations look for trusted partners to deliver complex energy and infrastructure projects, securing financing for these investments has also become a strategic priority. This creates significant opportunities for GETEC.
"Together with Cogenio, we are opening a new chapter for GETEC in Italy. We can build on our strong customer relationships and deep understanding of the local market, combining these strengths with our established industrial expertise, technological know-how and financial capabilities to further accelerate the growth of the industrial business. Together, we are better positioned to develop, finance and run the critical energy infrastructure our customers need to improve efficiency and secure reliable, future-ready operations," says Giovanni Pontrelli, CEO of GETEC Italy.
In Iberia, GETEC is entering markets that have been shaped by the rapid expansion of solar energy. Cogenio Iberia brings significant experience from more than 200 distributed energy and industrial decarbonisation projects and has built a strong position in industrial photovoltaic solutions across the Iberian Peninsula. To enable future growth, the industry increasingly requires resilient and technology-agnostic solutions. This creates a clear entry point for GETEC to broaden the offering in Iberia by delivering managed energy infrastructure to meet the full spectrum of energy and utility needs and facilitate decarbonisation of both electricity and heat.
"Entering the Iberian Peninsula is an important step in expanding the international footprint of GETEC. The region offers highly dynamic energy markets, strong industrial growth, ambitious climate and energy targets and increasing demand for experienced partners who can deliver integrated infrastructure solutions. With Cogenio Iberia, we gain a strong local presence and an experienced team that will allow us to build long-term customer relationships and develop new opportunities across the region, " says Rukmini Glanard, CEO International of GETEC.
