In his address, Thomas Wagner made it clear that significant efforts in climate protection must already be made today across all sectors if the ambitious climate targets are to be taken seriously. That is why it is crucial to set the course and make the necessary investments today. There are already a large number of innovative and future-proof sustainable energy solutions for industry and the real estate sector that specialists like GETEC can implement economically for their customers. With GETEC Green Steam, GETEC Green Heating and the Quartier der Zukunft concept, Wagner presented not only academic "PowerPoint concepts", but also real solutions that GETEC has already implemented for its customers.

Wagner emphasized that the use of residual materials from production and the greater involvement of the circular economy play an important role, particularly for industrial customers. GETEC also pursued this so-called Waste2Value approach for its customer Clariant in supplying energy to the new Clariant bioethanol plant being built in Podari, Romania. In his address, Clariant COO Dr. Hans Bohnen explained the increasing importance of using high-quality bioethanol produced in a climate-neutral manner and the enormous market potential, particularly in the transport sector. Through its patented Sunliquid technology, Clariant produces bioethanol from agricultural residues such as wheat straw on an industrial scale. GETEC is implementing an innovative CHP plant there at the site, which provides the heat and electricity for the entire production site. For this purpose, GETEC uses lignin as fuel, which is the residual material left over from bioethanol production. The second residual material, vinasse, is also recycled and returned to the fields as biofertilizer. This is doubly innovative and doubly sustainable.
